With the end of the High-Temperature Holiday, fireworks factories in the main production areas of China (Liuyang and Jiangxi) resumed production in early September after a two-month shutdown. In the second half of this year, there are about four whole months (about 140 days) of production time. This year, with the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, production has been more stable in both the first and second half of the year, and production time has been longer than recent years. However, some industry insiders speculate that the Asian Games, which start in late September, may cause fireworks factories to suspend production for a while.
The price of potassium permanganate, a core ingredient in fireworks, has risen recently. On the one hand, the main reason is that the technical correction takes a long time, resulting in limited inventory of raw material factories. On the other hand, the production demand of fireworks factories this year is higher than in previous years, so the supply is in short supply. With the rise in material prices and other costs, one of the fireworks leading enterprises recently announced a 10% price increase in paper-tube fireworks products, some factories follow up the price increase, and even some increased by 15%. It is predicted that with the arrival of the peak season of China’s domestic market in the second half of the year, the price of cake fireworks is likely to rise further.
The 15th China (Liuyang) International Fireworks Festival is scheduled to be held in Liuyang City in October 2023. The festival, which was suspended due to the Covid-19, will resume after four years. It is also one of the most important and highest-profile fireworks events all around the world, and is expected to attract fireworks traders, technical experts, officials and others from dozens of countries. There will also be top fireworks display competitions from various countries.
